Counting Those Railroad Cars

This week, I will be running a group session with the theme of modes of transportation, I can’t wait! There will be songs about boats, bicycles, airplanes, buses, and more.  There’s also a song about trains, take a look at the video below!

This song will be used to practice basic counting, clarity of speech, and leadership skills for the older children who will be able to assist their younger peers in counting.  We may even decide to practice identifying colours and patterns (can you notice how many of each train car there are and which ones are the same colour?) The song will also be adjusted to match the counting speed and confidence of the children to allow for fun and success.  Experiences of mastery can lead to increased self-esteem and mental health.
